What will you do

You will act as technical lead in the development of front-end software for our public-facing channels. You will be integral to developing new features, launching new platforms and improving our software engineering practices. You will work in an Agile environment within the IT Technology Office, and join a cross-functional team made up of product domain experts, business analysts, UX, software development engineers, testers, architects and DevOps engineers.

You will,

  • work within a cross-functional team

  • produce code that delivers value while meeting our quality standards

  • act as a subject matter expert and go-to-person for front-end technologies

  • work with our architects and engineers to ensure we design the best solutions for the problems at hand

  • work with our software development manager to ensure our standards and practices are fit and continuously improve

  • mentor less experienced software engineers and help develop our teams as a whole

Who we are looking for

  • have a track record of successful software delivery

  • have extensive front-end software programming skills e.g. Javascript, ES6 and/or Typescript

  • have a broad knowledge of Javascript frameworks and tooling e.g. Angular, React, Redux, Jest, Enzyme, Webpack, Babel

  • have strong HTML and CSS programming skills

  • have a solid understanding of web application architecture e.g. client-server, HTTP, RESTful APIs, Ajax, single page applications, mobile-first/responsive applications

  • be experienced in Agile principles and practices, in particular Scrum

  • be familiar with extreme programming methodologies e.g. TDD, BDD, pair programming, code reviews

  • be knowledgeable of programming paradigms, e.g. procedural, object oriented, functional

  • be knowledgeable of coding design principles and patterns e.g. SOLID, GoF

  • have an awareness of DevOps practices such as CI, CD and containerisation

  • be equally happy hands-on with code and mentoring others
