Job Description

We are looking for a Communications Director to join one of the world’s leading luxury alcohol brand owners on an interim basis for a one-year maternity cover.

This senior role reports directly to the CEO, manages a team of 17, and is responsible for internal communications and employee engagement for up to 2000 people across the UK.

This role covers 3 areas:
  1. Internal communications, employee engagement and culture
  2. Corporate communications, brand development & PR
  3. Consumer PR

 


We are looking for a senior profile who has operated and reported to a CEO previously, with a strong team leadership background, is a self-starter, and can maintain excellence and continuity over the duration of the interim period.

This role will:

  • Sit as a member of the executive committee, contributing to the successful running of the business and driving business strategy and cultural change.
  • Oversee and drive plans to build and nurture a positive company culture and Employee Value Proposition (EVP) aligned to the objectives and values of the business
  • Provide expert Communications, Culture and Social Sustainability counsel, adding value to a broad range of business topics and driving transversal business plans as required
  • Direct the external corporate communications strategy, messaging and initiatives to build the external reputation, including CEO and Exec leadership positioning, financial communications, sustainability storytelling, brand portfolio and people communications.
  • Consult and advise at the board level to support all change management projects across the business
  • Be accountable for a strategic and comprehensive internal communications program
  • Be accountable for all external corporate/business digital and social channel strategies
  • Act as a spokesperson for the business where required and act as lead comms advisor to CEO and senior spokespeople
  • Be responsible for & direct the communications strategy for all “issue and crisis management”
  • Oversee and drive the Consumer PR strategy for all brands, PR campaigns and activations.
  • Oversee and drive the Social Sustainability + DE&I strategy

We are looking for:
  • Extensive experience in global Communications (in-house, agency or consultancy)
  • Global FMCG, food or drinks background/experience
  • A track record in high-level corporate comms (internal & external), crisis communications, and multi-market brand media and influencer campaigns
  • Experience in developing company culture change programmes
  • Experience in brand strategy development and execution
  • Must understand and have experience in how to engage a factory-profile, desk-free workforce
  • Social sustainability and DE&I experience
  • Proven experience in leading high-performing teams and strong people development skills
  • Ability to advise and influence at executive and board levels
