Meet the team: Kofi Yeboah-Mensah
Kofi Yeboah- Mensah, Product, Change/Digital Transformation, PMO Associate Consultant at The Change Partners shares some interesting insights on his career and the industries he serves.
How did you get into recruitment, can you share your background?
I wanted a career change, having spent time working in the hospitality sector for a few years. I spoke with friends who are working in the industry and they recommended I would be good for it.
What does a typical day look like for you?
- In the morning, I start usually looking at emails and LinkedIn messages.
- Then I would have a 1-2-1 with my manager to catch up on my plan for the day.
- Then usually candidates call to pre-screen candidates for jobs i’m working on, prioritising the most important jobs in the morning.
- Then usually lunch at 12-1, and any meetings with candidates between 1-3.
- I’ll follow up with my calls with actively looking candidates between 2-4, and follow up with previous candidates I’ve spoken with
- The last hour I would plan the next day and organise calls
What are the biggest challenges you are seeing in recruitment right now?
It’s a candidate-rich market and so a lot of candidates are in between contracts at the moment, so it can be difficult to advise them on their next move. I think the biggest challenge from a candidate’s perspective is to remain a specialist within a particular field because I think when the market can prompt you to go into a sector which may not be transferable but factors out of your control have made it necessary
What emerging trends or technologies do you think will shape the future of the industries you are serving?
Every business wants to more efficient because greater efficiency generally means more money. This can be within the labour force or the digital systems.
I focus on digital change and transformation and so I expect to see the incorporation of more AI and machine learning tools within maybe HR and payroll systems, collaboration tools and software, and creative projects within gaming potentially. AI and machine learning will ultimately slowly grow into most businesses’ digital infrastructure once there are measurable results which lead to more efficiency over time and so that’s why it’ll be a slow process I think of 5-10 years
Can you recommend any books, podcasts, or resources that have influenced your professional approach?
Books such as ‘The Culture Map’ by Erin Meyers, ‘The Subtle Art of Giving a f*k’ by Mark Manson and ‘The Daily Laws’ by Robert Green and ‘The Huberman Lab’ podcast
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or activities that keep you balanced and motivated?
I enjoy TV series, spending time with friends, Xbox games, gym, playing football and swimming.
